Earl Monroe

Just saying his name conjures up images of high-flying feats on the basketball court that have inspired every player who has taken to the court in the last 40 years. NBA Hall of Famer, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe may be known for basketball, but his amazing life is so much more. In college, he lead the nation in scoring with an amazing 41 ppg average while leading his team to the College Division National title and being named Player of the Year. He has won an NBA Championship with the New York Knicks and in 1990 was named to the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame. In 1996, he was named one of the “50 Greatest Players” in the history of the game. He has been a commentator at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. He’s done everything from working in corporate America to serving on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health. He has an Honorary Doctorate from Manhattanville College and another one from his Alma mater, Winston-Salem State University, where he earned a B.A. Degree in Education. Earl is also a Peabody Award winning producer for the ESPN documentary, “Black Magic” and there is even a possible feature film in the works. “Earl The Pearl: My Story,” his first autobiography, will be released in April 2013 with Rodale Books. Earl is now putting forth his best moves with the multi-faceted entertainment company, Reverse Spin Entertainment.

Earl is a man who loves the art of business. With Reverse Spin Entertainment, he has diversified into the areas of technology, film, sports branding & merchandising, as well as music. Earl’s 2013 plans include using his brand to move his innovation heritage from basketball to the next level, and help young, bright people to innovate new fields of society in the technology space through his new Empire Pearl Fund. A core component of this effort will be a new Venture Capital fund that leverages his influence in sports and media to empower 100+ of the best technology startups in New York and across the U.S. Earl believes this fund can have a big impact on the role of athletes in innovation, and jump start technology innovation in New York and across America.

Earl has also been a spokesperson for many corporations and products. Most recently he has been a spokesperson for Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck and Emblem Health. He also currently has the Confectioners License with the NBA.

Earl Monroe is going to innovate the technology game as he did in the game of basketball. He’s going to put his own spin on it. Reverse Spin, that is.
